In West Africa, the imminent exit of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso from the regional bloc, ECOWAS has raised concerns over the future of the area. The three junta-led nations want to leave immediately – saying the organization hasn’t done enough to address their concerns. Analysts believe their departure could potentially open up wide gaps in the security architecture of a region which is struggling to deal with terror groups and insurgencies.
