Although never discussed, fracking could keep the lights on this winter, months before it makes progress in the energy drilling process that has been banned in Britain for years, when increasing the gross energy supply available to Britain was seen as an important step towards ensuring that there is no more energy crisis like this. Among the pathways to do this are fracking, drilling more oil and gas from the North Sea, nuclear and offshore pinwheels.
The legalization of fracking was a significant political announcement by the Liz Truss government once it was confirmed that the technology was safe for us. Now, just a few weeks later, Sunak has reverted to the ban, depriving Britain of one of the energy sources that helped the United States become a net energy exporter.
Fears that Sunak might reverse the ban began Wednesday afternoon when asked by the prime minister that he was vaguely indicating that the ban would be returned.
After some confusion, a spokesman for the Prime Minister later confirmed that fracking was “banned again”, justifying the move by referring to the 2019 Conservative Party election manifesto.
